Year 7 Residential Catholic Retreat to Alton Castle
25-27 September 2023
In September, over 100 Year 7 students took part in a residential retreat to Alton Castle in Staffordshire. Run by the Kenelm Trust, Alton Castle provides opportunities for children to take part in a range of adventurous, team building activities along with prayer and reflection on a relevant theme.
Our theme was Rooted and children and staff learned how our understanding of the Gospel values can help us to grow and develop real long term benefits for us as individuals and those around us. Activities such as mountain biking, trekking, archery, team building activities on low ropes and crate stacking gave those taking part the chance to build relationships with each other, learn how to work as a team and reflect on how we can take our learning with us on our return to school and home. In addition, there was plenty of time spent sharing meals, playing and simply finding out more about each other.
Students and staff had a wonderful time and we look forward to many more visits to Alton Castle over the coming years.
