Takayuki Judo Club is based at Our Lady and St Chad Catholic Academy. The club ethos is to provide an environment for students and the community to enhance their educational development through sport. With this in mind, the Judo club is offered to anyone who wants to take part in the opportunity to try this demanding but rewarding sport. Judo’s ethos is to enhance each student to their full potential by engaging and following the Judo moral code of conduct. They are Respect, Self-Respect, Hygiene, Courtesy, Courage, Fair play, Honour, Modesty, Friendship.
The project challenges students to enhance not only themselves but there fellow Judoka, with the involvement of parents, grandparents, the school, the surrounding community and outside coaches. The project has established a lasting legacy for the future of this sport within the Academy and beyond.
The vision for the success of the club is to enhance and help make each student realise that education within sport is as vital as the sport itself. This has had a positive effect on the students, who have not only begun to achieve within Judo but also raising their academic levels in school.
The club is proud to have helped produce four of its members to County standard inside 18 months. These individuals are now training with the county team on a Wednesday night at the Centre of Excellence for Judo.
The Judo club has a Facebook page, and you can access this by typing in Takayuki Judo Club. The updates include training tips, fund raising projects, jumble sale dates, judo competition photo’s, news and anything else that is relevant to the clubs development.
To become a member or join in on one of the training sessions, you can come along on a Monday or Thursday from 15:30 hrs until 17:30 hrs. Cost is £2 and all monies go towards the club’s future plans. Coaches give their time free of charge, so please come along and try this beautiful sport.
