On Sunday 6th September the Elite Dance Group ‘Respire’ had the amazing opportunity to perform at the Sainsbury’s School Games 2015 in Manchester at the Regional Athletics Arena. They opened the closing ceremony in front of 3000 spectators some of these including top athletes from around the world. It was also streamed live on the internet. It was a huge honour to perform at these games for Youth Sport Trust and the students from Our Lady and St Chad did us proud and represented the school in a highly professional and skilful manner.

Our Lady and St Chad Catholic Academy was one of nine schools/colleges selected to volunteer at the Sainsburys School Games in Manchester. We had 13 students attend this amazing event which sees the best athletes across the UK come together to complete for their nation. Year 7 boys have trialled for the Academy football team this week. With the trials spread over three days, 40 students have participated. Mr Minihane will select the team over the next week.
Best ever Sixth Form results
Students at Our Lady & St Chad Catholic Academy have exceeded their ‘best ever results’ for the second year running. All students have successfully gained a place at University with more students than ever achieving the very highest grades. Students will be starting their degrees in subjects such as Biomedical Science, English, Pharmacy, Sport Science, Education, Forensics, Business, Music, Nursing and Social Work. Read more…
After a classroom suggestion by a student, top set Year 10 were presented with the opportunity to study Statistics GCSE. A group of students enthusiastically accepted and we began the ambitious six month journey. In order to cover the syllabus, the group attended after school classes every week plus extra days during the Easter and Christmas holidays. Every week, at the end of the day, the students would rush to the lesson. They dedicated themselves to every element of the course – both the coursework and exam preparation. Read more…
Three year 7 students were invited to record a radio advert at the Free Radio Recording Studio in Birmingham on Thursday. The students were treated to a tour of the studio and even met some of the presenters. The radio advert can be heard on Free Radio 97.2 FM from Friday 11th September.
